If you live out of state and cannot come to Alabama to be fingerprinted, you may submit an ALSDE approved fingerprint card to Gemalto Cogent. Fingerprint cards may be requested by contacting the Alabama State Department of Education, Office of Educator Certification, by telephone at (334) 694-4557 or by email at email@example.com. You will be required to provide your full name and mailing address with your request. Gemalto Cogent will scan the approved, completed fingerprint card and submit the images for processing.
Out-of-state Applicants may submit fingerprint cards directly to Gemalto Cogent
Only out-of-state Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) applicants may submit paper fingerprint cards
o Out-of-State applicants may submit a completed fingerprint card AND a money order or cashiers check in the amount of $56.15 made out to Gemalto Cogent.
o Applicants MUST register ONLINE prior to mailing in a fingerprint card. Click here to register.
o Applicants must include their REGISTRATION ID (obtained online during registration) on the back of the fingerprint card. Submit fingerprint card to:

o Applicants may submit a completed fingeprint card and a money order or cashier's check (if applicable) in the amount of $56.15 made out to Gemalto Cogent.
o Any fingerprint card that does not meet the expected submission standards for quality, or as described here on this page will be returned un-processed with the applicant payment.
The availability of business or state agencies that fingerprint applicants varies from state to state. Typically this is done at your local law enforcement agency or a third party service.
It is suggested that you have two (2) fingerprint cards printed, and submit both to Gemalto Cogent. You may have your first card rejected and be required to call Gemalto to get the second card scanned.
